The North Idaho Fair wouldn't be complete if we didn't end our 5-day event with the "smashin' action" of the Demolition Derby!
Demolition Derby is the automotive sport where participants purchase and build cars solely for the purpose of intentionally destroying them.
The concept is simple: You buy an old, American-made hard top car, totally gut it, chain the doors shut, put on a helmet and ram this car into other participants, anywhere from 5 to 25 cars. It ends when only one car is left running. The winner is the car that made the last contact and can move at least 12 inches in any direction.
The North Idaho Fair Demolition Derby is organized by Kootenai Charities, a Coeur d'Alene organization that has been involved with this event for many years.
